Hi everyone

We are a small CC and we are not a VAT Vendor.
We have an import licence, but no export licence as we want to do no exports at the moment.

But recently we received requests from companies in Zambia and Uganda regarding our technical products.
Are we allowed to over those companies our goods EX Works? So they will be responsible for transport, insurance, customs etc.
Is there anything SARS will complain about such a sale? (Money transfer from a foreign country into SA and product hand over in SA)

Thanks for your answers

Best regards

Pam

Hi Pam

As long as the orders do not bring your turn over to more than R1mil you can avoid registering for vat or an exporters license by using a freight forwarding company that specialises in cross border transactions. Many of these companies allow you to use their exporters license for singular transactions.

Also, your foreign clients can purchase your goods from you via a local broker with an exporters license as an alternative option. You just need to set up an arrangement with such a company.

Please feel free to call me if you have any more questions.

Good luck,

Matthew
