I need help :)

I am actually redoing my website in html/css and I need wording. I am absolutely not a boffin when it comes to catchy phrases and wording to attrack attention.

Is there anywhere I can go to look for some sort of example. I have been looking at other web designers websites for ideas, but stealing wording isnt very nice.

Content is king. Its always a good idea to try improve the way your sentences are phrased on your web site. There are people who copyright for a living so hiring someone might not be a bad idea.

If you want to read up on some basics you can head over to www.copyblogger.com/copywriting-101/

I also like to see what is happening over at informationhighwayman.com/

He has a blog and some youtube videos but you could also hire him.

Maybe this is a bit late :(..

Your best bet is to get a copywriter as suggested but you can do it yourself.

Firstly remember your website is not created for you but for your customers or potential customers. You must first understand them to be able to speak in their language. You need to do a market analysis and a brand analysis. Speaking to all types of people is impossible, so you got to "home" in on your target market and speak in their language. Your catch phrase and content must keep them interested and coming back for more and by understanding them you can achieve this. So it's hard for anyone to suggest wording or phrases. Your content have to contain keywords for your website for SEO (search engine optimization). There are many free books and material on the web to help you do a simple brand, market analysis and SEO.

A real example we worked on recently to give you an idea:
A fashion designer wanted her own website. We interviewed her customers and herself. We looked at similar websites, what worked and what didn't work on those websites. In the end we come up with an idea which the client loved.

"Look Amazing, Feel Amazing"

Most people who go to a fashion designers want something different, unique and special because they want to look amazing on that special day or at that special occasion. Actually their want to feel amazing. So in that phrase we capture the type of business "look amazing" with the feeling that customers are looking for "feel amazing". All our content and phrases centered around this idea. So it's not just about thinking about a catchy phrases, it needs to speak to market.

Hope this helps.

Oh I just remembered! If you want help with your website design and development try searching on youtube for ThisWeekIn Webdesign. They have one live show every week on Ustream and it's uploaded for archiving on youtube. They even did a live website design and development for one of their clients. This is a great source and don't forget to support them.
