TOPIC: Septic tank at rental house

Septic tank at rental house 12 years 6 months ago #1959

We are renting a house through a rental agent.

We moved in in January 2010.
Since moving in we have contacted the agent twice about the septic tank cover cracking.

One time he got a plumber in to fix a part and the second time the owner patched it himself.

Now a part of the drain has collapsed and the agent says it is our responsibility to fix this as we must have driven over it.

On photos you can see that grass has been growing to the inside of the drain already before it collapsed.

According to our contract the owner is responsible for the outside and major repairs.

What am I to do?

Contact the local municipal Building inspector and get him to advise & write a report to the agent & owner. Peter
