Hi there

Please can you assist

I want to start an online store, selling Gift Basket Hampers which I will assemble.
It is going to be a family run business my husband and I.
I will be starting with baby gift hampers first and then branch out to doing various other gift hampers.

I would like to know if I need to register this online store that I would like to venture into?
And if I do need to register this online store, would registering it as a Private company be the way to go.

I don't want to be a sole or partnership as it links your personal belongings, which is not want I want

And can you advice where I can go in Cape Town for a consultant to explain all the ins and outs of what I need

I have looked at the CIPC to get information, but the website does not answer for what I am looking for

You don't have to register it, you could trade as a sole proprietor - although you said you don't want to do this.

If you want to pass liability onto a juristic person then you would need to register a new company.

We can register a company for you if you decide to go that route.

I have decided upon searching and reading, that for me, that is starting out, it would be best to trade as a sole proprietor

I can always change at a much later stage if need be

What happens to the name of my business that I will be trading under, if a sole proprietor does not register

What is generally the list that I need to do, with trading as a sole proprietor

It will be Charlene XYZ T/A ....

You can speak to your bank about link the 'Trading As' name to your account.

You will need to get a bookkeeper to help you with yearly financial statements etc that will be submitted to SARS. (we can help you with this if you like)
